Your license

Activate a key, get a lost one back, or manage your subscription. No account needed.

Activate

Click Open in Mink in your purchase email, or paste the key into Mink: menu bar icon › Settings (Einstellungen) › License (Lizenz) › Activate (Aktivieren).

A lost key

We'll send a fresh key to the address you bought with. Your old key stops working, so enter the new one on each Mac you use.

This form opens when Mink goes on sale. Until then, write to hello@getmink.ch.

Manage your subscription

Cancel, change your card or download receipts on Stripe's page. We'll email you a link.

Moving to a new Mac

Install Mink and enter the same key. Your layout stays on the old Mac. To bring it along, export your profiles as a .minkdeck file and open it on the new one.

Free, Unlimited and Workshop

Free is CHF 0, for as long as you like. Mink Unlimited is CHF 20 once. Knieses Workshop is CHF 20 a year or CHF 3 a month, and includes everything in Unlimited plus every Mac app from Knieses while you’re subscribed. Monthly adds up to CHF 36 a year. Every new install opens everything for 7 days. No key, no card.

How buying works

  1. Checkout is run by Stripe, the merchant of record, which handles payment, VAT, receipts and refunds.
  2. Your license key appears right after paying and arrives by email. There is no account and no password.
  3. Paste it into Mink’s settings, or click Open in Mink.

How licenses work

  • Your license always has an end date, so Mink knows when to check in again at the latest.
  • Mink checks your license with our license server when it starts, and when your subscription renews. It sends only your license key, the app’s name and its version number. The check runs in the background, even if your Mac hasn't restarted in weeks, and nothing waits for it. With no key entered, Mink never goes online.
  • Workshop runs until your paid period ends, plus 7 days of grace. A late renewal or a payment hiccup changes nothing during those 7 days.
  • Unlimited renews for a year with each successful check, so it keeps working offline for up to a year at a time.
  • If a license lapses, Mink goes back to Free and deletes nothing. Everything runs again the moment a check succeeds.

What happens when…

…I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. Keys and pages beyond Free stay in the editor, visible and editable; they just don’t run until your license is active again. Mink never rewrites your layout because of a license.

…I cancel Workshop?

Everything stays open until the end of the period you paid for, plus 7 days. Then Mink goes back to Free.

…a renewal payment fails?

You have 7 days of grace while Stripe retries.

…I'm offline for a long time?

Workshop runs until your period ends plus 7 days. Unlimited runs for up to a year after its last check.

…a purchase is refunded?

Its key stops working and Mink goes back to Free. Nothing is deleted.

…my subscription renewed while my Mac was offline?

You have 7 days of grace after each renewal date. As soon as Mink is online again, it picks up the new period by itself.

…Mink 2 comes out? Does Unlimited cover it?

Unlimited covers every 1.x update. We haven’t decided anything about a version 2. If we ever stop running the license server, we’ll ship an update that keeps Unlimited working without it. [Owner decision: continuity promise]
